About

We believe IC is not just a charity, but a group of people choosing to live differently. This blog highlights what we're up to as an organization, what inspires us, challenges us, and makes us laugh. It's our collective mind written down. We invite you to read, think critically, and speak openly.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN INC.

Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in central Africa to peace and prosperity.

IC|reative: Breaking down the Frontline Action Kit Pt. 2

One of the most unique items we have for available for purchase this fall is the Frontline Action Kit. This little packet holds a big punch for its price. But while this seems like a effortless well-assembled product, it definitely had a lot of forethought as well as months of planning and designing.

So allow me to introduce you to the three main designers of this project, Tyler Fordham, Chadwick Gantes and Steve Witmer. These are our in-residence graphic designers who make sure that all the products that come out of Invisible Children are well-designed and aesthetically beautiful.

So in the second of a two part series, IC|reative breaks down some of the littles that make one big- the Frontline Action Kit- the best thing you can purchase in the Frontline campaign. Starting with…

The Frontline Region Map:

Tyler:

When we were thinking of this action, we wanted it to correspond with the Crisis tracker and we had known we wanted to have a map involved. The Crisis tracker was going to point out the attacks.

Invisible Children: It’s a Human Issue

When Obama made the announcement a couple of weeks ago that he was sending around 100 advisory troops to Africa to apprehend and remove Joseph Kony from the battlefield, the decision was met with elation for some and trepidation for others. People did not understand why this decision had been made, and to them it seemed to come out of the blue.

Invisible Children, our partners, as well as our hundreds of thousands of supporters have worked, hard, to make sure that a decision like this was made. So if any of you encounter doubts, we made this video to inform the masses.

This decision wasn’t made out of the blue. This was eight years of hard earned work. There were many political actors, advisers and components involved in the process. From Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton to Senator James Inhofe, this is not just a bi-partisan issue. More importantly, it is a human issue. Please watch and share.

J. Edgar

The story of the man responsible for establishing the Federal Bureau of Investigations, as well as many other scandals, is being tackled by director Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio. Something tells me you won’t have to be a history buff to enjoy this one. -NS

Owner of Virgin Group wants everyone to go to space

When I saw this clip, I had to share it. It is mind-boggling. The entire time, Richard Branson, owner of the Virgin empire talks about how his new private galactic–and yes I mean space travel–company is about to revolutionize travel. Meaning, that if you have the funds, you can buy a ticket to go to outer space for a vacay.

If you have nine minutes to spare, watch this video. It may not be the best quality, but it is still unbelievable to see what this advertisement means in terms of commercial space travel. Even Branson puts at the end of the clip, “I’ll be going to space and what’s more, my parents and children will be coming with me.”-NS

Be Near Me

Be Near Me from John X. Carey on Vimeo.

Be near me when I fade away,

And on the low dark verge of life
The twilight of eternal day.
