Headed by Abbe Benoit Kinalegu, the Diocesan Commission for Justice and Peace works to protect communities across the Orientale province in the Democratic Republic of Congo against LRA violence. They are Congolese led and represent the vision of Abbe Benoit which couples work in rehabilitation, early warning systems and advocacy.

Heal Africa www.healafrica.orgHEAL Africa’s hospital and community development work address the root causes of illness and poverty for the people of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The hospital and the 28 women’s houses in Maniema and North Kivu have provided a safe place for many victims of the war, and have been a motor for combating poverty and promoting community cohesion over the past 14 years.

Interactive Radio for Justice www.irfj.orgInteractive Radio for Justice is a project designed to encourage dialog between people in regions where the International Criminal Court (ICC) is investigating the most serious crimes (genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes) and the national and international authorities responsible for rendering justice to them. Their work started in Ituri, DRC, where the first ICC investigation began in 2004. There are now several series’ of programs in the project, all of which are broadcast over community radio in French, Swahili and Lingala throughout the entire region of Ituri, DRC. In January, 2008 they launched Interactive Radio for Justice in The Central African Republic. IRC was instrumental in helping us set up the Obo radio tower in the Central Africa Republic, which included not only the hardware set up, but also provided intensive training on radio programming to the Congolese radio operators.

University of California Irvine Center for Unconventional Security Affairs www.cusa.uci.eduThe Center for Unconventional Security Affairs (CUSA) was established in 2003 at the University of California, Irvine as the innovative hub of a global research network that studies and develops solutions to unconventional security challenges through practical research on sustainability and global change. CUSA undertakes interdisciplinary research to understand and develop solutions to challenges such as the human dimensions of climate change; the links between environment, conflict, and peace; global terrorist networks; and transnational threats to health and food security. We are currently partnering with the Center for Unconventional Security Affairs at the University of California Irvine to study the impacts of Invisible Children on the youth who participate in our programs. This project will span over the course of a year.

University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism www.annenberg.usc.eduThe Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California was founded in 1971 with generous support from Ambassador Walter H. Annenberg. Its strategic location in Los Angeles at USC enables it to foster dynamic synergies and multidisciplinary approaches to the study of communication and journalism through unparalleled access to the nation's and the world's entertainment, media and technology industries. Over the course of 13 months, Invisible Children took part in the Civic Paths Project with the Annenberg School. The USC research team interviewed 42 formal/informal respondents, attended IC events and viewed IC media (films, blogs, website, twitter etc). The research team found that IC’s movement has been achieving an array of positive results regarding civic learning and participation among young people. By participating in these programs, young people have gained skills in awareness, networking, mobilization, production, and storytelling. Through these informal learning structures, IC participants have developed skills valued in a modern workplace, and a more empowered conception of citizenship.

The Voice Project voiceproject.orgThe women of Northern Uganda - widows, rape survivors, and former abductees have been banding together in groups to support each other and those orphaned by the war and diseases so prevalent in the IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camps. And they are singing songs. The lyrics let the former soldiers know that they are forgiven and that they should come home. The songs are passed by radio and word of mouth out into the bush, as far as the Sudan and DR Congo. And it’s working. Former LRA are returning and for the first time 24 years the region has a chance at real peace. The Voice Project is an attempt to support these incredible women and the peace movement in Uganda, and an effort to see how far a voice can carry.

Invisible Children first approached Digitaria in 2006 to help create a media rich website that would be specifically designed to capture the attention and inspire the millennial generation. The site also needed scalability capabilities for future growth. Digitaria was able to create an interactive site that engages our supporters. Digitaria was also instrumental in the development and design of a groundbreaking platform (the LRA Crisis Tracker) to map and stream data from Invisible Children's Salesforce instantly. The platform dynamically pulls data and plots it on a custom-tiled map. It also allows users to interact with each data point and media related to the most important data points. Invisible Children is beyond grateful to the staff of Digitaria who donated hundred of hours of their time to make this project a reality.

Guess? www.guess.comOur relationship with Guess? began thanks to the ingenuity of two teenage girls. After seeing Jason, Bobby and Laren on Oprah, Olivia and Caroline Marciano—the daughters of Guess?’s founder and co-CEO—decided they wanted to do something to help. With the support of Guess?’s designers, the Marciano girls have created four Invisible Children shirts that are sold across the nation with a copy of our DVD. All proceeds from these shirts go directly to Invisible Children.

In the end, Invisible Children was able to get over 32,000 of the participants to create fundraising pages and a total of $1,744,000 was raised through Stay Classy to support our Protection Plan.

Actress Kristen Bell, known for her roles in the TV series Veronica Mars and Heroes, and movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Fanboys, Couples Retreat and When in Rome, has been a huge supporter of Invisible Children for years. She was introduced to IC by a coworker on Veronica Mars (who happens to be Jason’s brother-in-law) and attended her very first IC event at the Global Night Commute. Kristen has since advocated for Invisible Children at many events, including our recent Fourth Estate conference, and has even traveled to Uganda to learn more about the people whose lives have been affected by the LRA and how Invisible Children’s programs are helping to improve their livlihoods.

You might know Rachel Bilson from her roles in movies such as The Last Kiss and Jumper, and television shows like The OC and Hart of Dixie, but did you know she’s also an IC super fan? Rachel got involved with Invisible Children after being introduced to us through her friend, Kristen Bell. She was able to see the work Invisible Children is doing first hand after traveling with IC staff to Uganda. Additionally, Rachel has used her talents as a fashion designer to create an exclusive Invisible Children t-shirt as well as originally designed earrings, with the proceeds of the sale of these items going to benefit Invisible Children.

Bobby Chang traveled to Uganda with Invisible Children in December 2009, and immediately was drawn to the work being done through our Mend project. Coming out of his experiences in China, where he built the factories behind the juggernaut Incase from the ground up, Mend represented another side of manufacturing that he wanted to play a role in. Under his guidance and with his support, Mend is growing into a project that, at its heart, is all about a simple concept: Production With Dignity.

Shervin is an entrepreneur, an angel investor, a published researcher, a startup advisor and an incubation expert and startup visa activist. He also helps lead a four billion dollar investment fund. He has traveled the world extensively and came to northern Uganda with Invisible Children to see our work first hand.

Jeremy is a world-famous economist and social theorist. He works as an adviser to the European Union and numerous heads of state and has written 17 best-selling books. The European Parliament adopted his long-term economic development plan as the blueprint for Europe’s future. Jeremy has inspired Invisible Children supporters and staff with his vision of the "empathetic civilization, which he shared with us at the Fourth Estate.

Josh is the cofounder of PowerBalance, a company that sells athletic bracelets. Josh met Ben Kessey at the Summit Series and upon hearing about the devastation caused by the LRA in Central Africa, he immediately wanted to get involved supporting our programs. Josh was apart of the Summit Series Impact Trip to Uganda in Fall 2010 and was also one of the sponsors of our Fourth Estate conference.

Tom is best known for directing such comedies as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Nutty Professor, Liar Liar, and his documentary film I Am. He was introduced to Invisible Children after seeing one of the IC films at MountainFilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. Impressed by the film, Tom has become an avid supporter of IC and has donated to our Schools for Schools program, as well as helped sponsor our Fourth Estate and The Rescue events.

Doctors claimed Sean would be dead within the first 24 hours of his life. But Sean proved them wrong. And despite life at 3 feet tall, and life in a wheelchair, Sean never chose to give up. He’s persevered and is now pursuing his life goal—to rid the world of insecurity. After meeting Sean at a Summit Series event, we knew we needed him to share his motivational messages with our supporters and invited him to speak at our Fourth Estate conference.

In 1994, Carl was the only American who chose to remain in Rwanda after the genocide began. His commitment to the people of Rwanda extended beyond his own safety. The work he went on to do directly stopped the massacre of 400 children. Invisible Children was honored to have Carl as one of our speakers at the Fourth Estate.
