About

We believe IC is not just a charity, but a group of people choosing to live differently. This blog highlights what we're up to as an organization, what inspires us, challenges us, and makes us laugh. It's our collective mind written down. We invite you to read, think critically, and speak openly.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN INC.

Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in central Africa to peace and prosperity.

Curious Mountain Gorillas

An amazing chance encounter with a troop of wild mountain gorillas near the Bwindi National Park, Uganda. These gorillas are seemingly friendly – it almost makes me want to take one home as a pet.  Almost.  Scroll to 2:30 and see how helpful they are with hygiene.  Disclaimer: don’t try this at your local zoo.

Introducing the new Mend: The Irene Tote

If you’re looking for inspiration for holiday gifts take a gander at Mend’s new Irene Tote bag. There you’ll notice that the bag features the face of a beautiful women. Well, there is a story behind that design.

All the Mend bags are made by a group of women, all of whom were formerly abducted by the LRA. Mend provides an opportunity for these women to not only support their families but to also take pride in their work while sharing their story.

Each bag is made start to finish by one woman. The woman featured on the Irene Tote bag was one of our beloved seamstresses, who we lost in Janruary earlier this year. So, in dedication, this bag was designed for her.

Watch the video to learn more about the Irene Tote Bag and then check out the rest of Mend.co to learn more about this extraordinary program.
