“If you do your research and you can be a part of something that’s going to change humanity for the better, then you should. It’s your obligation.” -Jim Ward, Guitar/Vocals – At The Drive In

My journey into social activism started when I very first started listening to punk rock music. I was attracted to it because of the general discontent with the way our society works and the want to change that.

AT THE DRIVE IN was the first band I ever saw use their platform to raise awareness by making one of their music videos, Invalid Litter Dept, about women being murdered in Juarez, Mexico. It forever changed my perspective on music.

That’s why I was so excited when Jim Ward, singer/guitar of ATDI texted and told me to come out to Coachella. He said the band once again want to use their platform to speak their minds about Invisible Children and to encourage their fans to find the facts and support IC.  After the interview, both he and Cedric Bixler-Zavala, singer, were excited and Jim said it was the first interview they had given together in 11 years. Honored and humbled to present this interview to you.
