Music we love: Mumford and Sons
Because of songs like “The Cave”, Mumford and Sons is easily becoming one of our favorite bands. They somehow have the ability to transport you to Woodstock. And isn’t it funny that somehow every one of our parents went?
As THE INDEPENDENT says:
West London’s latest folk movement has already been compared by some to the Laurel Canyon scene of the Sixties and early Seventies. The Thames Valley scene, if you like. But if Laura Marling’s fragile confessionals make her the Joni Mitchell, and Noah and the Whale are the soon-to-be over-exposed Eagles, then Mumford and Sons may be the slow-burning super-group, the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
(Take a listen to the 2 aforementioned bands as well)
THE RESCUE in UGANDA
Last week, Laren and Jason flew to Gulu, Uganda to be apart of The Rescue in northern Uganda. It was a powerful experience, documented by Erica D’Alessandro, Public Relations Officer in Uganda:

The gathering of university students, already pouring out the doors, continued to grow as many were forced to catch glimpses through the cracked glass windowpanes, shielding their eyes against the harsh sun on typical dry-season afternoon in Gulu.
Four influential community leaders sat onstage in the airy main hall of Gulu University, while the packed audience listened attentively to each member of the debate’s arguments and protestations against opposing opinions. Some governmental leaders supported peace; others supported military intervention. A former LRA delegate to the Peace Talks spoke with wisdom and experience. All sides presented, the intellectual debate was an interactive medium for the youth to respond to the positions of their local leaders on the solution to the conflict that has affected everyone—young and old—in northern Uganda. The discussion served as a starting point to the weekend’s events—and this was just the beginning to THE RESCUE EVENT in Gulu.

Rock Music and Invisible Children: Working Together to Change the World
Last month, IC’s artist relations gurus, Kenny Laubbacher & Alex Collins, took it upon themselves to swing together an inspiring night of acoustic music at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. It was dubbed A Very Merry Benefit Concert and very merry it was indeed. An eclectic group of guys took the stage that night. Before the show went on, we sat them down for one big interview. What came out of it was an honest conversation about rock music, social activism, and a lost horse.
In the order they performed for the show, we want to introduce you to each of the musicians and share some of the stories we took home from them. (more…)
