Between July 30 – August 6, the LRA Crisis Tracker has reported only 1 incident attributable to the LRA. This comes after a month of historically low numbers of LRA attacks. While it has been a quiet period in terms of reported LRA incidents, there are still a number of notable reports from the past few weeks.
On July 23, near Naparka, DRC, a group of 36 LRA looted 25 homes and abducted 2 people. This is significant since most recent LRA attacks have been carried out by small groups and are proportionally small in scale.
On July 31, near Pasi, DRC, a group of 9 LRA forces abducted a man, woman and 12-year-old girl. The assailants also shot a priest in the leg, and proceeded to loot food, money and clothing from the community. A few hours later, the LRA combatants released then man and woman, but the whereabouts of the 12-year-old girl remains unknown.
