After review of applications, in-depth interviews with students and countless home visits, the Legacy Scholarship Program (LSP) team at last announced the newest scholarship recipients.

A crowd of 114 students and their family members gathered in the Invisible Children (IC) compound as one by one, the children came forward to receive their scholarship awards.

Through scholarships and mentoring, LSP shapes the future of many students who are talented and have skills but are disadvantaged because of poverty or other factors affecting the students’ access to education.

“You should not have self-pity because of your past and the challenges you have faced, but rise above them and become the best you can,” said Patrick, Education Director for IC. He further encouraged the students to work hard and stand out because of the good they do.

Parents were also challenged to work hard and take part in their children’s upbringing through clothing and feeding them.

At the end of the ceremony, the students and their parents signed acceptance letters committing themselves to each doing their part in developing the future leaders of Uganda.
