About

We believe IC is not just a charity, but a group of people choosing to live differently. This blog highlights what we're up to as an organization, what inspires us, challenges us, and makes us laugh. It's our collective mind written down. We invite you to read, think critically, and speak openly.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN INC.

Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in central Africa to peace and prosperity.

Haiti, how you can help

blast_top

BREAKING NEWS: Invisible Children will send a relief team to Haiti to provide $100,000 in direct relief services. But we need your help on this one too.

We’re a finalist in the Chase Community Giving Facebook competition to win $1,000,000 for our ‘big idea’ of ending Africa’s longest running war. But, this contest started before the devastating earthquake hit Haiti last week and with no Haitian non-profits represented in the 100 finalists, Invisible Children felt the need to support Haiti during this time of crisis. Therefore, if we win the Facebook competition we will spend $100,000 from funds raised this Holiday Season to provide direct relief services in the areas hit hardest.

(Our mission is to help Invisible Children wherever they are, and in times of extreme crisis, we want to step up… like we did in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf, Invisible Children sent a team to work and volunteer for four months after the devastation.)

Please go here and take 30 seconds to cast your vote for Invisible Children.

ALSO: Our friends at TAKE PART have put together a list of organizations helping with relief after the major earthquake in Port-au-Prince.  Visit their site and do something. It is so important to be there for Haiti in this time of devastation.

Here is another great organization doing important work in Haiti. Child Hope International. They are located in Port-au-Prince and are close friends, and I have heard word that they are fine.  Donate to help them here.

Also, the Matador Network and Jet Blue are putting together a relief/aid trip.  Check it out here: Matador Network.

God bless all of the people affected by this natural disaster. Now’s the time to make a difference in someone’s life–maybe even the difference between life and death.
