We believe IC is not just a charity, but a group of people choosing to live differently. This blog highlights what we're up to as an organization, what inspires us, challenges us, and makes us laugh. It's our collective mind written down. We invite you to read, think critically, and speak openly.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN INC.

Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in central Africa to peace and prosperity.

Want to score some very limited edition THRICE Nikes?

Picture 9

A couple quick UPDATES:

1. The shoes are not starting at $200. They are starting at $35.

2. The shoes are in men’s sizes only. So ladies, adjust accordingly.

3. There are 36 listings. Search around eBay for your size and desired style (see below).

All 4 members of the band THRICE have individually designed their own pair of NIKE shoes. And less than 100 were produced…TOTAL! You could be part of the elite to own The Eddie, The Teppei, The Riley, The Dustin, or the complete set!

During their last headlining tour, 50 pairs of these shoes were sold to concertgoers. And because of the massive response, we wanted to create an opportunity for anyone to purchase this exclusive shoe. But the best part is yet to come. THRICE has donated them to us, Invisible Children. So what does that mean exactly? The moo-lah from each shoe you purchase goes DIRECTLY to our programs on the ground in northern Uganda.

In order to find the 38 shoes we’ll be posting on eBay, you’ll have to search for your size and style by typing this into the eBay search bar: Limited Edition NIKE Shoe Designed by THRICE.

Examples:

You better act fast, cuz these will seriously be gone faster than your face at a Thrice show.

Shoes… omg …shoes.

So the fans that desperately want them but don’t have the $200+ to shell out don’t stand a chance. Nice.

  2. Comment by J - December 17, 2009 @ 3:48 pm

uh.. are you new to this whole “business” thing?

they’re not even making a profit off of it.

    sorry you’re poor, ace.

  3. Comment by Marco - December 17, 2009 @ 3:51 pm

how much are they going to be?

  4. Comment by aaron - December 17, 2009 @ 3:52 pm

if you wanted them bad enough you’d pay $200+
and it’s for charity so it shouldn’t matter

  5. Comment by Evan - December 17, 2009 @ 3:52 pm

Yea this is ridiculous. I am sorry but for huge fans that actually want them but don’t have money, it will be impossible for them to get them.

Nice way to make a quick buck for a good cause (but very sneaky). This is why I get so angry about organizations. I love Invisible Children and saw one of the first viewings of it EVER, but with things like this, it just seems unfair, thats all!

You would have made a lot more money by pressing a lot more of each shoe and selling them for a reasonable price, that way you are being nice to both fans and Africans who need the money!

  6. Comment by Evan - December 17, 2009 @ 3:54 pm

Oh, I take my comment back! The shoes that you are auctioning are donated by the band, you guys didn’t press them. I’m sorry, I should be spouting my anger at Thrice for not making more, haha, you guys are just doing a cool thing!

    MY BAD!!!!!!!

  7. Comment by K - December 17, 2009 @ 4:08 pm

I know it’s for charity, and I don’t really care.

Not having $200 for shoes = not poor.

  8. Comment by weak - December 17, 2009 @ 4:14 pm

make more, sell for less, sell more, make more $. good business, good for everybody.

anyone know if this will be an auction only or of there will be a buy it now option? im guessing since its for charity it’ll be auction… but that sucks.

  9. Comment by Anna - December 17, 2009 @ 5:06 pm

anyone know if there will be girls’ sizes?
i’m kinda hoping for a pair of the purple ones but i’m assuming that they’re all gonna be for the guys. (which would be incredibly lame, considering a 5 or 6 in guys’ shoes is hard to come by..)

  10. Comment by Invisible Children - December 17, 2009 @ 5:20 pm

uhm… whoa. people be trippin. keep the comments coming, I’m entertained.

  11. Comment by Marc - December 17, 2009 @ 5:28 pm

wow, you guys clearly missed the point of the shoes being “limited edition.”

Hell, there are basketball shoes right now that are way more expensive than this and aren’t limited editions. Plus, profit goes to invisible children. I.C. is probably one of the most successful charities out there.

  12. Comment by jj - December 17, 2009 @ 6:24 pm

Anyone know what time on friday they will be going on ebay?

  13. Comment by ashley - December 17, 2009 @ 7:04 pm

are they in men sizes? i need girl sizes….

  14. Comment by michelle - December 17, 2009 @ 7:26 pm

whatever, bid what you can afford and hope you get them. i’m gonna try. it’s fun for the holidays and good for charity. if i am lucky enough to get a pair that’s cool but if not it will still be fun to bid. and it’s for charity so… good job thrice!

  15. Comment by Invisible Children - December 18, 2009 @ 1:25 am

ps where did anyone get the idea the shoes are $200? suggested price is $40. I’m confused.

  16. Comment by Marco - December 18, 2009 @ 6:25 am

    Where are the links?
I see that the dustin shoes are up already, be can’t see the rest…

  17. Comment by Dominic M. - December 18, 2009 @ 9:05 am

so thrice decided to help out one group of hurting children by using and supporting the abuse of another country’s children? It’s awesome that these shoes could go for up to hundreds to help such a great org such as the invisible children, even $30 bucks a shoe would do so much… but are we just going to pretend that nike doesn’t pay children 17.2 cents (CENTS!) an hour to make their shoes?

we didn’t choose what country we were born in and neither did those children…

  18. Comment by anne P - December 18, 2009 @ 10:05 am

what about the little people that like Thrice?

    size 6 1/2 pretty please?

  19. Comment by Alex (I listed the shoes) - December 18, 2009 @ 10:12 am

Hey guys! I work here at IC and I was the one who listed the shoes. I too am unsure of where this $200 thing came from, but I assure you, the starting bids are all at $35.

For the COMPLETE set of all 4 shoes, the starting bid is at $125. But that’s for 4 shoes :) There are 3 complete sets on eBay.

THRICE donated the shoes and IC will be given ALL of the money raised from the auctions. We don’t even have to pay the seller fees on eBay because we’re a registered charity. Rad.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

  20. Comment by aaron - December 18, 2009 @ 10:47 am

i’m pretty sure $200 came up because that’ll be the price or higher by the time the auctions are finished. and let’s see some size 10 or 11s. i want the eddie!

  21. Comment by Dominic M. - December 18, 2009 @ 11:31 am

THE BEST PART IS: Some of these limited edition shoes are even more limited because some of the blood and sweat of the chidren who were paid .17 cents to make them can be found on these awesome kicks.

I don’t care if they are $5 or $500.. it’s still blood money.. come on people.. how much money does it cost to buy your morals from you?

  22. Comment by Adam - December 18, 2009 @ 1:24 pm

can you not ship them to the UK? Really want these.

  23. Comment by Holla - December 18, 2009 @ 1:49 pm

I bought these at a show because I was told by the IC rep there that there’s only 40 pairs. I even got some in wrong size. I’m kinda sad that instead of one of 40 my shoes are now mysteriously one of 100 or so?

    No big I guess.

Also these shoes are not great quality. They seem to be prototype quality, like on the Teppei show there’s foam coming out.
Also the sizing is kinda weird. I needed a size bigger than what I normally wear in Nikes.

It’s a good idea but I wouldn’t spend too much on them because they’re not great quality and seems like more shoes might be ‘found’ later again to make more money.

Sad I was lied to by a charity so close to Christmas. Too many expenses as it is. Wish I saved my dough for XBOX.

  24. Comment by Invisible Children - December 18, 2009 @ 2:54 pm

You would rather buy an xbox than help kids in Uganda? whoa.

  25. Comment by Holla - December 18, 2009 @ 3:26 pm

What kids wouldn’t like an xbox more than shoes??

  26. Comment by mike - December 18, 2009 @ 3:29 pm

XBox is ill as fuck. Get them COD!

  27. Comment by OG Pimpson - December 18, 2009 @ 3:35 pm

I, too, am quite disappointed to hear that there were more of these shoes “found” (read: produced).

As we all know, this is just Nike screwing us yet again. I am personally sick and tired of these big companies thinking they can make something “limited”, so true supporters will rush to buy it, all the while falsely limiting supply to gouge prices. I thought better of Nike, a company that I used to trust greatly.

I, in solidarity with the above poster, am going to purchase an Xbox also (from a company I trust to not pull these kinds of shenanigans, I might add). Do you really care about kids in Uganda? Why don’t you just donate to some charity instead of pretending like you’re really “supporting” some vague cause by buying a luxury item in order to make up for your middle-class consumerism.

  28. Comment by Sam Goodno - December 18, 2009 @ 4:33 pm

These comments are gnarly. Nike is the devil. Those shoes were donated to Invisible Children by Thrice to raise money for their work. What are you suggesting? They should burn them on the roof in an almighty sacrifice to economic justice? Which of you are viewing this website on a computer? uh oh… there’s Coltan in them hills! and in your computer screen. And that is fueling rebel warfare in the Congo. Ready, set, chuck your computer. Oh, and your cell phone too.
Oh, any if you like Chipotle? well, they may love their organic pigs, but they don’t pay their workers minimum wage. bummer. no food for you. goodbye cruel world. why do good when you could do nothing and live like a true vegan in a swamp with a clear conscience. sweet dreams.

  29. Comment by Ken - December 18, 2009 @ 4:35 pm

Are people seriously bitching about charity?

  30. Comment by J Oooooo S H - December 18, 2009 @ 4:46 pm

I’m buying TWO XBoxes, hollowing them out, and wearing THOSE as shoes. Why? I heart Microsoft. I noooo heart Nike.

Sam I know what you mean about vegans. They are annoying!!! All they do is guilt trip everyone. My friend won’t even do oral because that’s how much she’s scared of meat.

  35. Comment by Robert Correa - December 18, 2009 @ 6:52 pm

    Hi,

I ordered the green pair at the second Anaheim House of Blues show but I have not received a confirmation email.

Ironically, I was the guy who was a bit uneasy about not receiving a receipt on location so I checked my information and was assured I would get an email the following week since the show was on a Thursday I believe?

Anyways, I would really appreciate a response or the name/information of someone I could contact to resolve this.

My name is Robert Correa and my email is Robert.Arthur.Correa@gmail.com

    Thank you.

  36. Comment by jd - December 19, 2009 @ 2:51 am

so typical of ill educated musicians to do something like this! i love this band, but to donate shoes that have been made by children and sweat shop slaves.to a childrens charity is just disgusting! as for all you kooks that want to spend money on stupid looking nike shoes like all the other little scene retards.grow up! and realise there are more important things in life, and maybe try being a bit more original!

  37. Comment by Riley - December 19, 2009 @ 12:45 pm

I’d get some… but it looks like these hips don’t ship to Canada :(

  38. Comment by Riley - December 19, 2009 @ 12:45 pm

*Shoes not hips I don`t know how that happened…

  39. Comment by Andrew - December 21, 2009 @ 6:12 am

    Eddie in 10.5 plzzzz

  40. Comment by Dan - December 22, 2009 @ 2:23 am

I think the shoes made by slave children argument is a completely invalid point, unless you live in a forest with no clothes, and live off of the grass. so why don’t all of you guys that are saying how “disgusting” these “kooks” are take a look at the computer chair you’re sitting in that was probably made by slave children, take a look at the fruits and vegetables you’re eating every day that were picked by super underpaid illegal immigrants just take a look at what you’re saying. stop being ridiculous. just accept that thrice is actually doing something NICE, or go live in a swamp, like the guy before posted.

anyways, I could rant on a bunch of points, but I think you get it.

and thrice isn’t “ill educated” for the record.

  41. Comment by Ryan, N.Ireland - December 24, 2009 @ 6:42 am

Are some of you people serious?? Like actually serious??? You’re holding the possession of a pair of Nikes in higher regard than donating to a worthy cause. “Oh no, I can’t get the Nikes I really really want even though I’ve been a fan for so long”. At least you have the money for shoes…and music…and erm little things like accessable healthcare and education. And if your just mad at Nike then bypass them and donate what you would have directly to IC. Much better cause than a pair of new shoes.

  42. Comment by jd - December 25, 2009 @ 8:11 am

live in a swamp!!! haha shows how ill educated you are!! its really quite easy to buy without exploitation! there are many companies using factories that insure fair pay, using fairly traded materials.you can buy groceries that are grown locally and organically.you should do some research before making comments.
when it comes down to it,nike have been busted on numerous occasions for their unfair pay, terrible working conditions and for using CHILD labour.which is the whole point and fairly obvious to anyone with two brain cells to rub together! giving money to a CHILDRENS charity,by selling products made by a company that uses CHILD labour.and its not like its a secret about companies like nike.so you would think that at least one of the guys in the band would have been smart enough to see the glaring hypocrisy!

how about.THRICE DONATES X AMOUNT OF DOLLARS TO INVISIBLE CHILDREN.
no marketing gimmicks,or product placement.just an honest donation done in good faith

  43. Comment by Matt - December 27, 2009 @ 5:19 pm

Where’s THE RILEY?? No ‘found’ extras of that shoe? Why all 3 others but not his shoe (the only AIR one of the lot)? Is Thrice so core that they can’t sell 4 different shoes? Then it’d be Fource, right? HaHa =)
Hook me up with an auction for some 12.5s or 12s of THE RILEY!

  44. Comment by Izaya - December 28, 2009 @ 8:00 am

Dangit!! All of The Riley are gone!! I don’t kare for the other ones now. If you all didn’t notice, Thrice said they made less than 100 shoes and fans bought 50 and only 38 are on eBay. That’s just not fair. I wanted the green ones!! Ugh!! A time will kome again hopefully…

  45. Comment by ash - January 27, 2010 @ 6:29 pm

so, i just had to say something about this, this guy (J Ooooooo S H) up there, who wrote in all caps, used the term “THIS ISH IZ MAD CORN, YALL.” ‘Mad corn?’ sorry i’m not up with the current talk of the street, but, MAD CORN??? really???

  46. Comment by ash - January 27, 2010 @ 6:31 pm

oops sorry i guess it was a dude named “holla.” … of course it was.

  47. Comment by michelle phillips - March 1, 2010 @ 3:51 am
