Vote with your $$ – Choicemob puts the power in your wallet
The idea of Choicemob was hatched by a real cool cat: James Pearson. His vision was to incentivize the role of values in business by directing an army of informed consumers, ready to spend their money in favor of enterprises that hold these three standards in high regard – Fairness, Compassion, and Respect for the Earth.
Here are some excerpts from an email James sent us:
“The globalized, industrialized, informationalized economy has given billions a new ladder out of poverty, but it continues to exploit our planet and our fellow men at unprecedented levels. It doesn’t have to. Business is the most radically adaptive form of organization, constantly testing the marketplace and shifting to accommodate. If we speak our values loudly enough, business will listen and adapt.
But we must speak in the language of the market – money and attention. That is why I’m starting the choicemob. It’s a simple idea: A community united by common values – Fairness, Compassion, and Respect for the Earth – and committed to making those values heard in the marketplace with organized buying and media attention.
By supporting companies that uphold these values we will improve their bottom line and draw the envy of their competitors. We will help make social value the next disruptive force in the business world.”
The choicemob’s first hit is planned for Monday, December 7. They’re asking all who wish to join them to buy something from our friends, Better World Books, making an orchestrated, economic impact in favor of socially-conscious business.
