About

We believe IC is not just a charity, but a group of people choosing to live differently. This blog highlights what we're up to as an organization, what inspires us, challenges us, and makes us laugh. It's our collective mind written down. We invite you to read, think critically, and speak openly.

INVISIBLE CHILDREN INC.

Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in central Africa to peace and prosperity.

Use What You’ve Got

At Invisible Children we always say we need your ‘time, talent, and money’. We ask you to use what you have to help. Well, we have found some people doing just that in some unusual ways. Here are two different stories, from two very different guys.

Aaron Swindell is an artist from Southern California. After seeing the Rough Cut, he felt compelled to act – by painting milk cartons. He has a collection of cartons and prints that he is selling, with half the proceeds going to IC. There is even a carton decorated to the theme of our first four bracelets. This is definitely a rad twist on your favorite breakfast companion. Check out his blog for more info.

Brian King took another approach to raising money. After watching the Rough Cut, he decided to take on a more personal endeavor. Brian, who has been growing out his dreadlocks since 2007, decided to auction each dreadlock off for the cause. Winners can have him dye, bead, or jewel his hair for up to three weeks – the highest bidder gets to call the shots. At the end, each winner will receive a certificate, a personal thank you, some piece of mind that the money went to support northern Uganda, and, if they really want, the dreadlock itself. Read more about his hair’s journey, and how you can be involved (even bid!), on his blog.

We’re always looking for an interesting story about what’s going on in the world of Invisible Children. Email  your stories and photos at info@invisiblechildren.com.
